The ever growing range of hybrid bikes includes, Ladies shoppers, trail bikes, comfort bikes and even the popular flat-handlebar racer type bikes - we call them speedsters!

For these products we stock bikes from Giant and Specialized. Click on the manufacturer to go to their range on this page.

Our stock lines are listed below, however the manufacturers make a vast range and these are also available to order.

The new Giant Escape range is proving very popular, based on the old CRS models the range has a new lighter weight fluid formed Alux frame and with the straight forks and new saddles they are sporty, lightweight, yet comfortable.

The Escape 3 in both it's standard and city version has 21 speed Shimano gears, powerful 'v' brakes, puncture resistant tyres and great all round riding position. Fast on road and capable on the gentle tracks. From £299

The Escape 3W is offered in two colours Black or Green with an easier 'step through' frame for lady riders, and available in a city model in the black (bottom). In house we can add mudguards and or carrier to any of the models that don't come with them, (mudguard prices start from £10 a pair). Bike prices from £299

The Escape 2 in a smart two tone silver/grey colour scheme (below) gets upgraded wheels and gears that means this is a stronger bike all round than the Escape 3, ideal for the heavier rider or a bit more adventurous use down the canal tow paths. Now also available for 2012 in a city version. Prices from £379

Again, the ladies are spoilt with a two colour option on their version of the Escape 2W, White or DuckEgg. Both are smart and have the same gear and wheel upgrades like the mens versions. Easy to use gears from Shimano, comfy saddle and frame sizes from 14.5" up to 20". £379

The Escape 2W City is equipped with all the essentials for the commute into town to work, or if accessorised with bags or baskets the shopping trip. Shown below, £425

Still from Giant, The Roam 4 and 4W are hybrids with a lean towards mountain biking, great value all rounders, they are fairly quick on road, but more able off road than the Escape range. The 4 and 4W have 21 speed gears, suspension forks, but still lighter weight in the frames and wheels than a MTB, £349

If you want 'on road speed' rather than 'off road ability' then go for the 'Rapid 4', essentially this is a road bike with slightly 'tweaked' frame geometry to allow the use of flat bars. Apart from this adaptation, the rest of the bike is identical to its 'Defy' cousin from the road bike range. Equipped with a triple chain set for a wide range of gears for the big climbs, 8 speed close ratio gears on the rear wheel to maintain a steady cadence, all operated by quality Shimano shifters. Bar ends for easy out of the saddle climbing. £499

In the 'Hybrid' category from Specialized there are many different ranges of bikes.

For general hybrid use, ideal for commuting we keep the new Specialized Globe Work.

Available in a Gents or Ladies version, this bike with it's 24speed Shimano gears, quality components, all round tyres, is just an ideal multi purpose bike, and as it's name suggests is a great commuter. It will take mudguards for protection and carriers for luggage. Both versions £350

But for extra speed we keep the Sirrus range.

A new specification for the entry level Sirrus for this year, with 24speed Shimano gears and 32mm tyres, aimed at the more general 'hybrid market' this is a great bike for commuting or fitness, £369

The Sirrus Sport is upgraded with 27 speed Shimano gears, and flat bars. A smart Satin Black paint finish finishes it off, £449

The Sirrus Elite is a lot more serious where fitness bikes are concerned, carbon forks for lightness and compliancy on our UK roads, 28mm tyres to guarantee a little more speed from your efforts and 27 speed Shimano gears keeps it all boiling on the inclines and descents. £599

To mirror the mens Sirrus range, Ladies should look to the Vita with it's ladies geometry, the entry level model is available in two versions, one with a diamond frame and the other as a step through model. Both are A1 premium aluminium and get easy to use 24 speed Shimano EZ Fire gear systems, 700x32mm puncture protected road tyres with a great new tread design. Priced at £369

The Vita Sport is just that, a 'sporty' fitness bike! Easy to use 27 speed Shimano gears to give fast/high gears and a real low end for effortless hill climbing. £450

Although aimed at leisure use all the Vitas will take mudguards, luggage racks and have bottle cage mounting studs so can be equipped for the sometimes necessary commutes.

Still aimed at the leisure market but with rougher terrain in mind Specilaized make the Crosstrail, a bike that will go off road with ease, but remains faster than a MTB on road, it's big wheels with Borough XC tyres eat up the tarmac but will give you reasonable grip in mud and gravel. The first model has Shimano 24 speed cassette hub gears, SR 75mm travel suspension forks, £399

The Crosstrail Disc sells at £449, a similar specification bike with nice clean lines due to the addition of Tektro mechanical disc brakes.

Worthy upgrades of 27 speed gears, lock out forks and hydraulic disc brakes make the Crosstrail Sport Disc great value and a real all round solution to finding a bike for all purposes at £499

The Crosstrail range is available in the womens specific 'open' style frame, same specs, but called Ariel. These bikes are priced the same as the mens equivalents, shown above is the entry level 24 speed model at £399

Ariel Disc, still 24 speed but an improvement in the brakes down to Tektro discs, £449

And possibly the ideal bike for going anywhere! The Ariel Sport Disc is ideal for 'offroad' expeditions with the kids with its shouldered tyres for grip and 75mm travel suspension or for commuting turn the key on the top of the forks and the slick centre tyre profile eats up the miles effortlessly. The Shimano 27 speed Rapid Fire gears are ideal for all speeds and if necessary the bike can be equipped with mudguards and luggage racks. A solution to the situation when one bike isn't enough, £499

Whether off road for cyclocross, on road touring or on road commuting, the Specialized Tricross is a true jack of all trades, Shimano 24 speed STI (brake and gear lever combined) gears give this touring bike a modern feel to it, the frame is lightweight enough for winter road training and the brakes have enough power to pull up the bike if equipped with racks and pannier bags. The range starts from £750
